What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that are sent by the website visited by the user to the user's device (usually to the browser), where they are stored so that the device can be recognized on the next visit. On each subsequent visit, in fact, the cookies are sent back from the user's device to the site.
Cookies can be installed not only by the operator of the site visited by the user (first-party cookies), but also by a different site that installs cookies through the first site (third-party cookies) and is able to recognize them. This happens because the visited site may contain elements (images, maps, sounds, links to web pages of other domains, etc.) that reside on servers different from that of the visited site. According to the provisions of the Privacy Authority's Measure of May 8, 2014 "Identification of simplified procedures for the information and acquisition of consent for the use of cookies" (hereinafter, "Measure"), for cookies installed by third parties, the obligations of information and, if applicable, consent rest with the third parties; the site owner, as a technical intermediary between the third parties and the users, is required to include in the extended information the updated links to the information and consent forms of the third parties.
Based on their purpose, cookies are divided into technical cookies and profiling cookies.
Technical cookies are installed solely for the purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide that service" (see art. 122, para. 1, of Legislative Decree 196/2003 - so-called Privacy Code - as amended by Legislative Decree 69/2012). They are usually used to allow efficient navigation between pages, store user preferences, store information on specific user configurations, perform user authentication, etc. Technical cookies can be divided into navigation cookies, used to record data useful for normal navigation and use of the website on the user's computer (allowing, for example, to remember the preferred page size in a list) and functional cookies, which allow the website to remember the choices made by the user in order to optimize its functionalities (for example, functional cookies allow the site to remember a user's specific settings, such as country selection and, if set, the status of permanent login). Some of these cookies (called essential or strictly necessary) enable functions without which certain operations would not be possible. Pursuant to the aforementioned art. 122, para. 1, Privacy Code, the use of technical cookies does not require the consent of users.
Analytics cookies are assimilated to technical cookies (and, therefore, as specified in the Measure, their installation does not require user consent) if used by the site operator for the purpose of optimizing the site itself to collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the site.
Profiling cookies are used to track the user's browsing, analyze their behavior for marketing purposes, and create profiles on their tastes, habits, choices, etc., in order to send targeted advertising messages in relation to the user's interests and in line with the preferences expressed during online browsing. Such cookies can be installed on the user's device only if the user has given their consent in the manner indicated in the Measure.
Based on their duration, cookies are divided into persistent cookies, which remain stored on the user's device until their expiration, unless removed by the user, and session cookies, which are not stored persistently on the user's device and disappear when the browser is closed.
Cookies used on our site
Technical cookies
This site uses technical cookies (functional and navigation), installed by the site itself in order to monitor the functioning of the site and allow efficient navigation on it.
Analytics cookies
This site also uses analytics cookies in order to statistically analyze access or visits to the site itself and allow the owner to improve its structure, navigation logic, and content. These cookies collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the site without being able to identify the individual user.
Specifically, the site uses components provided by Google Analytics, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). In this case, these are "third-party" cookies collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the host site (performance cookies). Google Analytics uses "cookies" to collect and anonymously analyze information on the use behaviors of websites (including the user's IP address). This information is collected by Google Analytics, which processes it to compile reports regarding activities on the websites themselves. The site does not use (and does not allow third parties to use) Google's analysis tool to monitor or collect personal identification information. Each user can choose to selectively disable the action of Google Analytics by installing the opt-out component provided by Google itself on their browser. To disable the action of Google Analytics, refer to the link below: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Social Network Cookies
This site allows users to share content from this portal on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube. In doing so, however, users access the aforementioned Social Network sites directly, which set their own cookies on their site. In this case too, these are "third-party" cookies that are governed by their respective policies and it is to these that reference should be made.
Managing/disabling cookies from the browser
It should be noted that it is also possible to manage/disable cookies using your browser settings. The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. In addition, the best browsers allow you to define different settings for "proprietary" cookies and for "third-party" cookies.
